Life with a service dog

 hi On thursday

Don't miss the puppy photos. http://tigaslitter.blogspot.com/
I believe the puppies go home to their foster families tomorrow. This is Tiga' s Third and last litter. Judy (Emma's foster mom) took some beautiful pictures. I know they will miss the puppies.

Emma and I went to water exercise, to lunch, and home. Then my friend Jan called and we went out to chat. Then it was back outside to enjoy the weather. Now we need a nap. I have some political calls to make tonight. It is harder to interupt people's life when the weather is so nice I think anyway. I will try after dinner time.

If I have time I will write more later. We noticed a lot of traffic heading up north already. Tomorrow (Friday) it will be backed up by noon is my guess. Everyone heading to their cabin for the memorial day weekend. We plan to be home all weekend.

More later tonight or tomorrow...Mary and Emma

 Another Sunny Day

Yeah we had another sunny day.
One of my MS symptoms is severe fatigue. Today I woke up and felt like I just couldn't move I was so exhausted. Greg fed Emma and took her outside. I fell back asleep till 2 pm. I felt better but had little energy. I took Emma outside. I enjoyed just sitting playing with her and talking with a neighbor. We had a nice day.

Tonight I mustered up enough energy to get my hair cut and colored. The woman who does it always fixes it more fluffy than I actually wear it but still it looks nice.

Now I am headed to bed with Emma. IT is 10:24 and I am pooped. If I need to I can sleep till 9:30 we have water exercise tomorrow.

Emma also got her nails clipped. This time she did just great. Greg went in with her and knelt down by her and reassured her. He said the woman doing the clipping was super gentle, patient, and calmly talked with Emma. She in turn, handled it great. Normally she just hates it and it is difficult for someone to clip her nails. Yeah for a good situation.

Emma was very good all day. They always think she is so cute when I get my hair done.

Hope you are having a good week - Mary and Emma

 congratulations Foster Homes

Congratulations to the foster homes receiving one of Peache's puppies. Pictures are on tiga's blog. Tiga's puppies go home on Friday I think. How great that foster families are willing to give time and attention to training a puppy to be a service dog. One of tiga's puppies will have the honor to be used for breeding. Tiga has had three litters and I believe retires from that role now.

Emma was escstatic about playing outside today. Sorry about my spelling. She could hardly be anymore excited. She races and raced around the yard as we played. She would lay down to rest and then up and doing it again. It was adorable.

Later in the day however, that dog was not active in the yard. She went out to "do her duty". i threw a toy for her to fetch and she looked at me as if to say "what do you want me to do?" She did fetch it but just was not so peppy. All in all she had a good day. The weather was sunny and comfortable. A great day to be outdoors.

I am so happy for the foster homes. Imagine what a difference it will make in an individual's life to get a service dog. What a great thing to do for someone else.

I think the weather will be nice tomorrow also. I like this weather because it is not to hot. I use to love hot weather but with MS it bothers me. My nerves don't function as well so moving my limbs, and yes my vision are impacted if I get too hot. Last year it seemed like we had to have airconditioning on even in May. I am pleased to have spring days where that is not needed yet.

Take good care of yourself.

After a break of about a month, the political campaign I am helping on needs me to do some calling. I don't know if it will be more difficult to reach people when it is so nice outside. I also have to check and see if they mind me leaving messages. I have many to call and wouldn't be able to catch them all at night or weekends.

I am very polite when I call. The names I have are people who we know already support the candidate. I have had a good response from people in the past. I always ask first if it is a good time to talk and explain it will take about three minutes or less. I think people are more receptive if you are very polite and if they know it will not take long.

Emma and I will be home most the day tomorrow. In the evening I have a hair cut and hair dye (oh and you thought it was natural). My hair is an icky blend of grey and dyed now. I have weddings coming up so this would be a good thing done. Normally I do it myself. This is a big splurge for me.

The other fun thing about this time of the year is we see our neighbors more often. We chat outside in between chores. I always have to sit though. My legs seem so weak lately.
The neighbors just came back from Arizona and that is neat to have them home.

 A Busy Monday

Judy has more puppy pictures. http://tigaslitter.blogspot.com/
Can you believe it? They go to the foster homes to start training to be service dogs on Friday!!! They are adorable. Cute photos. I enjoyed scrolling to see how they had changes since first born. They grow so fast.

Emma and I started the day at book club. Well actually we start the day at home. I got up with the alarm but moved like a turtle this am. So I did not get there early to book club. Then I get there and realize Emma has not run in the yard with me in the morning. She runs I watch or we fetch things. I offered her the chance to go potty before going in the store but she did not. she has a bladder of steel.

Our discussion was interesting and we welcomed a new member. She is newly diagnosed with MS. The book discussion this time was not as long as normal. We all enjoyed having time to talk to Ann and offer support. We could mention to her where/when for support group and the water exercise many of us go to. We also shared other coping ideas. We have a bond with each other that is special. We reach to help one another cope.

We had the soup and salad lunch at Olive Garden. Not everyone goes but it is enjoyable. No pressure to go but everyone is invited. We try to go places with lunch specials. Again their was fun conversation and laughter.

We came home and it was starting to rain. Greg took today off. We ventured off with him to do a few errands. One thing we did was go to Lowes. What a big store. I use a scooter and Emma got lots of walking in as we looked at things. We purchased blinds for my living room. I was pleasantly surprised to get them cheaper than I thought they would be. How often does that happen.

We arer also window shopping for laminate wood floors. We looked at other things too as we try to find ideas to spruce up our home. It was enjoyable to look around, chat, and dream about what we would like to do. Money holds me back from doing all I would like to do but it was a worthwhile time in any case.

I got home in time to find out my daughter Becky was going to join us for dinner. She had some important mail to pick up. She picked me up and we went to a shoe store first. It was fun helping her pick out shoes. I am good at helping other people spend their money ha ha.

I got dishes done, a load of laundry and that is it for the day. It flew by. I am so glad to have book club as it motivates me both to read and to try various books.

Emma seems ready to rest as we had such an active day. No nap. She sure likes to cuddle up next to me on the couch. When I sat talking to Becky she insisted on being as close to me as possible on the love seat. I do not mind it one bit. I treasure her.

Oh I also shopped on line for a wedding present. That was a good thing to accomplish. It is for my neice. It was a good thing to accomplish and I had it delivered to her home. It is surprisingly easy to spend money on line - isn't it? i don't do it very often though.

Sometimes I get bored or lonely. Today was a great day for us.

Hope you have a good day. Emma did just great today.

Mary and Emma
