Life with a service dog

 Tuesday - A Chilly Day

Hell on Tuesday Night,

Emma and I went to water exercise today. We have been home the rest of the day. Time has flown by but I have accomplished little. Made some phone calls to people I haven't reached for awhile. Not much else. Battling a headache today.

Emma seems to be feeling good. I think it is tomorrow the vet will call me She had a good day I think.

There are four campaigns that I have had contact with in various ways. The emails from them needing help these last days is pouring in. The negative ads seem to be even more numerous today as election day gets closer. I know I have mentioned that before.
I am weary of it all.

I feel weaker lately and more fatigued. Nothing hugely serious but it sure makes the day a bit more tiring and more of a struggle. We are were so tired after swimming. We did stop at a place that has home made soup and sandwiches for lunch. That was nice on a cool fall day. Then home to rest.

It frosted last night and will again tonight. We covered some of our flowers but before long that will come to an end. I will miss the flowers. I don't know when I have had roses this late in the season. That is unusual for sure.

I don't have a lot to say. I had some of Greg's home made vegetable beef soup for supper. I gave Emma some broth since we do refrigerate and skim off fat. She loved it.
She is ready to cuddle up for bed I think, I just took her out. Brr it seemed cool. I even made Hot Cocoa tonight for myself. Tis fall coming to an end i guess.

Hope all is well with you. Emma even brought me a blanket tonight (when asked) so I could keep warm. A handy skill this time of year.

Maybe i will feel more energetic and in a sunnier mood tomorrow. Today seemed kind of worrisome about various things. We will see what another day brings. Emma is helpful for moral support too.

Emma On TV - A Moment in the Lime Light

Emma was on tv today. Yes those who live in town might have seen her for just a moment on the News. Ashwin Madia had a news conference with Woman and Guest Speakers. Nancy Pelosi, Amy Klobuchar and other women were there to speak and support Madia. Emma and I went to this event which was by invitation only (we felt special). On the WCCO news they showed Emma briefly on the part where they talked to Pelosi about issues.

Emma was in the aisle so you don't seem me. Okay most the time she was right in front of me at my feet. But we went early, it started a bit late, and then there were several speakers. So at the end when there was clapping and a standing ovation - well Emma figured it was time to go. I was looking at the stage area and she zipped out into the aisle. My son thought it was a cute shot of her. He said he turned on the tv and said gosh that is Emma. A moment in the limelight.

The comments focused on the work to end violence against women. It was most interesting. They presented information on Corner Stone (not sure if it is one word or two) and the support it received from Shelia Wellstone. Paul and Shelia Wellstone were very interested in supporting women in need.

The person who drove me invited me to lunch with many of the participants. Most I didn't know. It was nice when they asked about Emma for at least then I could join the conversation. It was enjoyable. Many people both at the event and at the lunch know my son so I was known to many as "Dan's Mom" that made me proud.

I have the greatest kids in the world for many reasons. Remember how I had my crew of painters? Well today Greg worked hard and later in the day was joined by Mike, Tia, and Anna to help rip and take out carpet in our living room, dinning room, and hallway. The job included moving furniture back and forth to have open space. I sure appreciate how hard my kids are working on my home fix up project.

Today I was tired but could help by spending time with Rosa. How fun is that. I took her outside. Did she love swinging on the playground in my yard. She also could climb up all alone up the steps to a fun lookout on the top. We also played in the leaves. It was so much fun. Emma also had some time outdoors today.

I am up and it is midnight - I better get to bed. Emma looks tired though she napped some before when i watched tv for a bit.

Hope all is well with you. The election results will be interesting. I am sick of the ads that are negative against Madia and others that I support. I guess I wish elections could take place with out that. Someone pointed out that for those in office you look to their record and that then gets negative...

Emma and I had a big day. A big big thanks to my children (yes Tia and Justin that includes you now) for all that you have done. Mary and Emma

 The Green Dog

The Green Dog yep you guessed it Emma was that dog. She was in the bedroom most of the day except when i took her outside. We had her come out and found a place for her to lay and watch. Well it was awhile and she moved and was sitting. When Justin noticed she was leaning into the wall. Nope it was not dry as we thought it was. She got some green on her. She hated it and was upset. She got a quick bath and all is well.

Also human error. We bought some treats for her and I left the box open but forgot to put it into the cupboard where she can't get into it. Greg said Emma didn't feel hungry for breakfast. Now we know why!! Good thing we found it before it was all gone. Okay i was in such a hurry it was on the floor (I know that makes no sense) well she didn't throw up or anything and didn't need breakfast. I will watch her in case she gets sick or anything but she seems just fine. She can be in the living room and dinning room for awhile. Only one wall there needs repainting. They are working in the entryway also.

I can't believe the gift of their time and efforts. They think it is easier not to have the whole gang here as you can have just so many ladders and stuff. Ripping up carpet will be the task during the week. I have the greatest children.

Well I am going to go paint by the steps in the entry way. Yeah I can sit as i work there.
Going to a movie with Emma and Jan at 4 I think.

Hope I am not complaining too much about the mess. It will be worth it. I am so pleased with the colors. Have a good day. mary and Emma

 From Emma

It is busy around here I tell you.
Furniture is moved, book case emptied so lots of boxes in the office.
Toys moved and other things from the living room.
It is hard for a dog to know where to go.
They are painting a lot today.
Mary had a migrane but is feeling better now.
She even helped roll some of the paint for the first coat.
There is so much to do.
Justin and Becky are painting so much.

Yesterday I was home with Greg awhile.
Mary got to go with Rosa, Sophie, Tia, Mike and Anna
to the Maple Grove Community center.
She said they had lots of fun in the playground and pool.
I am glad she is home the whole day with me today.

It is such a nice day out so Mary does take me out a lot. She needs breaks anyway.
She says it makes her feel good to help.

 Emma is Feeling Better

Emma seems better. After water exercise I took her out in the back yard which is fenced. I did take her off leash so she could roam freely but watched her so she did not run around. She is not suppose to run about for another week due to her back. She was very good and enjoyed sniffing around. We could not play fetch of course. She really enjoys her yard and all the smells it has there.

Tonight I am packing things up in the living room (bookshelves, toys etc) to move so they can move furniture, paint and then next week rip up carper and then lay flooring. Such a big project. I wish I was stronger and of better health so i could be more help. I am doing what I can at least.

I am not sure what Emma and I will do Sat and Sunday to stay out of the way of the painters. I have a book to read so we can camp out in my bedroom or outside if it is nice. I am sure we will manage.

I better see what i can get done. Hope all is well with you. Have a good Friday.
