For the first time in my time with her Emma had a rough night. She kept waking me up. She went outside once to go to the bathroom (okay that couldn't wait). Then someone's dogs were barking up a storm at 2 qm. so loud. I am not sure which neighbor it was but it was so loud. It was a warmer fall night for MN so we had windows open. Emma was good about me making sure she did not join in the barking fun but she did get concerned. She kept checking to see what was going on. Even when the above was over she woke me several times.

I don't know why she could not sleep like she normally does. She usually goes to bed when i do and that is it till she wants breakfast or till I wake up. Often she does not wake up or get up at least till I do. i don't know what the deal was. She seems fine today. i bet we both will sleep a bit more today due to our night and it is a bit cloudy and rainy outside anyway.

The good news is she seems fine and comfortable this morning. It might just have been all the comotion outside. We have neighbors who seem to come to life with lots of cars coming and going in the night, and voices talking.

I am not making her work but she is enjoying retrieving things just the same. She thinks it is a game. The vet is suppose to talk to me on Monday about her lab tests and to check in on how she is doing. She acts happy and is doing well with the leg that bothered her so we are glad for that.

I appreciate the emails asking about Emma. Overall, I think things are going okay. She doesn't act like she is in pain at all now though we are extra gentle with her and keeping her as quiet as we can.

I am writing now as we might be having company for dinner. Becky moved things in today and Justin of course came over. Dan came over too and I left briefly with him to do an errand. Apparently even with Greg here Emma was very upset I left though it was less than an hour.

Keeping her calm has been tougher today. She was so excited to see the kids she ran and wanted to jump off and on the furniture too. I did take her outside on leash and she layed by me quietly watching what was going on as they moved things in to the house.

Now I am home I believe for the rest of the day. She is being quiet. On the one hand it is good she can move more than the past days but we don't want her jumping or running or twisting that back.

This all makes me realize how much she means to me in my life. My kids said that too. She is one of the family. I was going to go quick to a store with Greg but we decided I best stay home with Emma. I have dishes to do and she just lays and watches. Then we will nap or I will read too. Tonight we will likely watch the senatorial debate. Becky and Justin may or may not be here for dinner and I am waiting to hear from a friend also.

In any case I will be with Emma. I am petting her a lot and trying to help her stay quiet.
She is such a special companion to me.

Mary and Emma wish you a good weekend. It is a beautiful day so we plan to go outside again just for her to lay and enjoy nature. I do it in the front of my house. In the back there are a squirels and bunnies and we don't want her trying to chase them or distracting her from resting. Most the time you obeys my command to "leave it" but she does even when alone in the back like to run and explore. Two weeks is going to seem like a long time for us...

Emma is being so patient and good. She seems to still want gentle petting. Rosa and Sophia were awesome to be with. Emma and I will be home tomorrow. I hope to spend some time reading the book club book Loving Frank a historical fiction about the mistress of Frank Loyd Wright. Have a good weekend. I am so glad Emma seems comfortable. She is so quiet. It seems weird to walk around and not have her at my side. She did lay right by me when we watched the movie. She means so much to me. I am glad she has a good prognosis.

This will be quick. We are watching Alvin and the Chipmonks with Rosa, Sophia and Grandpa. How fun is that. Tia and Mike joined us for supper but went out for some alone time. Emma is doing okay. Rested all afternoon which was good. It hasn't been difficult to keep her quiet. She gets her medicine soon again - once a day.

Emma seems more comfortable today. It is weird to have her just want to stay in one place all the time (like they want her too). She did get up to eat her breakfast which we thought was good. Walking a little bit is suppose to be good for her just not a lot. Thanks for the warm thoughts and email. We will be sure she gets good care from us.
