Sunday night
We took two naps today and slept late so I am up later than normal.
Emma did not like the sound of the fireworks last night. We were home and the city display was about 2 miles from here or less and you could hear them. She needed reassurance.
Today we got outside for a long time. We supervised from the shade while Greg planted, weeded, watered, and added more mulch to hold the moisture in. We still need rain. A neighbor also came over and visited for awhile. In the shade, in the gentle breeze, it was very nice. I think it is suppose to be warmer tomorrow.
Emma was off duty so I let my neighbor pet her. Lucy, pointed out how Emma always looks at me as if to say "is it okay?". My neighbor of course respects that and does not pet her til I tell Emma it's okay - even without her uniform on.
Emma was really mellow today. She is gentle and easy to be with all days - but today she didn't mind those extra naps or resting. I did get only a few chores done. Not much at all. Interesting Emma now almost always cuddles so close to me (do I always say that). We have a couch and love seat in the living room. No matter where I sit - she lays there (I do let her on the furniture though in training they do NOT allow that). She has her paws on my leg it is so cute. I appreciate her affection.
We kept discussing doing an errand or two but the day passed with us just staying home. It seems quiet without Sophia here and we loved seeing Rosa, Mike and Tia more often last week. I am sure they enjoyed some family time this weekend.
We are off to bed. At this point we have no plans for Monday so will likely be home all day and evening.
Hope you had a good weekend - Mary and Emma

On Saturday, Grandma rested. Yesterday we did see my friend jan as it was her birthday. We went to a quilt shop and then had frozen yogurt - yum. Last night we had supper with Sophia and her family before they all headed home. It had been a super hot day and humid so there were some storms. We did not get much rain though. We need a long steady rain - our grass is so dry.
Saturday we slept in late and took a nap. Anna slept over which was very nice. She had been out with friends in maple Grove. It was fun to chat with her. We later in the day did a quick trip to Target and took her home. An easy supper and we watched a movie. An easy day for us. I did sit outside with Emma several times (it was cooler today). She sure loves our backyard and being outside.
I had some keys in my hand and dropped them today. Emma was so darn excited to retrieve them. Since I don't drive she doesn't get as many opportunities to fetch keys. I don't seem to drop them as much going in and out of the house. Well she was super proud of herself - her tail a waggin- as if to say YES I CAN DO THIS. She was eager to help all day.
At Target we practiced "behind" her walking behind the cart in a narrow aisle. I want to be sure she remembers her skills. Greg and Anna did more shopping and Emma and I did more walking the store for exercise (her not me) and practicing things. She did just a great great job. I was so proud of her. Many people commented on what a great dog she was - that makes me proud. She is awesome.
There were fireworks in Maple Grove tonight but we stayed home. i can hear them but the trees are too tall for me to see them from here. If Sophia were still here I would have gone I think. i loved going when our children were little. With walking being hard for me I am a little concerned about navigating and managing it. Emma would not enjoy them I am sure.
Can you believe this? We are unsure if our roof has hail damage from a May storm but many of our neighbors did. So an inspector from insurance is coming out tommorrow. Sunday? And at 8 am!!!! I guess they are really busy and he said have to use the weekend days also.
Well we are off to bed. Hope Sunday goes well for you.

Sophia will be home from camp soon. I have some cleaning to do before the cleaning lady can even clean my house. Ohh it got messy this week mostly just because I couldn't keep up with day to day tidying up. I love have Sophia and that is more fun than anything else. I don't even have breakfast dishes done yet. That is not normal for me.
I had a counseling appointment and then a doctor appointment today. Greg took off to take me and doing both was time consuming. Some medication adjustments nothing serious. My diabetic Dr is scared of dogs so Greg kept Emma. He took her in a store and they walked after getting their items. He said she was just perfect. Yeah Emma.
After a later lunch we all chose to nap. Greg too. Emma too. Nights are busier for Emma too and so naps we both like. I can't wait to hear about horse camp. She was so excited about the day - canoeing, archery, tie dying and time with the horses. Sounds like fun. I told Sophia I wish I could go too. She told me very sweetly Grandma you could never handle all that walking and its warm outside too.
Sophia is so wonderful. She will have many neat experiences in her life. I for one will never ever forget this awesome week with her. I don't mind resting in the day as I am so thrilled to have time with her in the morning, when she gets home, and when we go to bed. I go when she does and we whisper like a sleepover before we fall asleep. Her parents can be very proud of the sweet, understanding, kind, compassionate, and very smart girl she is.
She even went to this camp not knowing anyone. As a child I wouldn't do this. Sophia is so friendly that she has had a good time. She is bubbling with excitement every morning and night. I bet you can tell so am I. This has been such a happy week.
I know Emma likes it as Sophia plays with her. She walked a bit with her yesterday too. Mostly we are together with Emma outdoors in the yard or indoors if it is too hot.
I know I am her grandmother but even if I was not I would think she was awesome. She truly is a magnificient girl. She is an awesome big sister too. but it has been fun to have some time without Rosa to really spoil and love up Sophia - its been great.
Better run get dishes done. Rosa, Mike, Tia come in about an hour. Sophia should be home soon with Grandpa but they might have run a quick errand. I would have gone with to pick her up at the school near us (bus stop) but was sleeping and Greg snuck out quietly.
Tomorrow Dan is coming over and will help pick up Sophia as Greg has to work at night. That will be nice.
Hope you are having a good week.

I am having so much fun this week with Sophia. I find I have to rest a bit more in the day to accomodate how fun nights are. Sophia loves camp. Emma sleeps with Sophia and I at night. I will try to write tomorrow during the day. Rosa is also here tonight for awhile. It is such fun. We are going outside to blow bubbles. Sophia is the most wonderful 8 year old. She is enjoying her horse day camp. We are loving having her here with us.
Emma is fine. I think she likes having Sophia here. We also went out with a friend tonight and Sophia for dinner. How fun was that. Tonya from camp. A very good day for Emma and I.
I usually write at night but now we have a routine with Sophia here. She read to me last night too. how fun. i remember reading to my Grandma. Emma listened too.
More tomorrow. We are doing just fine.
