Monday
The good part of the day was we watched Rosa. Tia worked at home. It was an enjoyable day. Lots of time to cuddle Rosa.
Hard part of the day is I had lots of pain so they got me in right away for some dental work tonight. Ouch. It took almost two hours. Also the numbing drugs did not work till they tried the third type. My jaw is so sore even though part of my mouth is numb.
II am off to bed. Emma had a good day. She was worried about me at the dentist though.
More tomorrow. Mary

I did not realize that I forgot to write on Saturday. It was a quiet day we were home all day both Saturday and Sunday. Nothing exciting happened. I got some needed extra rest, did some easy household chores, and read.
Emma is doing okay. When we are home like this she enjoys extra time with me watching her and playing in the back yard. She enjoyed me spending extra time brushing her, playing, and snuggling on the couch.
I can't think of anything more to write about today. We are headed to bed. Hope your weekend was a good one.

Every once in awhile Emma has to show me she is a dog. Late this afternoon we went out with a friend to share conversation and have a pop and cup of soup. It started okay but after about 15 min Emma did not want to stay under the booth table. I don't think anything triggered this. Sometimes I drop my cane or get my purse and she thinks it is time to leave. Well today nothing would get her back under the table. Not even a doggie treat, attention or anything. Most of the time she stood right next to where I was sitting and wanted to be petted. Luckily she was still out of the way of patrons and servers. But she would not go back under. Under is usually her favorite spot.
When I took her to the car she did not have to go to the bathroom or anything. Her body language caused me to believe her behavior was not because of that need. She got fed when she got home so maybe she was hungry?
Back home she is her normal self so go figure. We are having some of our kids over for dinner. I guess I made the menu a little more elaborate than I had too. I wanted it special for valentine's. I wish my older granddaughter Sophia coud come (she is 8) but she has a date with her other Grandpa. She is very close to him.
We will be busy watching Rosa and visiting with the kids so I am writing early. The day was quiet till we went out and cold brr. Weather is suppose to warm up during the week. Emma is still enjoying the fresh snow. The only trouble with getting warmer is if it is warm enough for snow to melt and then it freezes the top gets so packed down. That is hard on her ears when she tried to roll her face in the snow.
I am not sure that we have any weekend plans. We are wishing you a happy weekend.

Happy Valentine's Day to All,
Emma and I went to the YMCA again. I still am trying to get a picture to work on the blog. She was awesome like always. As a treat the women went out to Baker's Square for Lunch. We chatted away like always.
When we came home the power went out. First I read and then No problem we took a nap under a pile of blankets. I guess it was a large outage but it came back before 4 pm. I made a nice dinner for my husband and I. After taking Emma out (we had some new snow today) we watched some tv with Emma cuddled up next to me. I also made political calls for a short amount of time.
Emma sure liked two inches of new snow. We had about an inch the other day also. She just loves rolling in that snow. When people see her as we go in and out of the Y they are so amuse at her antics in the snow. I take her out in case she needs to go to the bathroom but most times she just enjoys a quick roll in the snow before we go on to our activity.
We went out to the pool deck a bit early. Pre-Schoolers were just getting out and lining up behind their teachers to go back to the locker room. That is what they were suppose to do but oh my goodness was Emma a distraction. They still stayed in line and did not try to pet Emma but they all wanted to just stand in line and watch Emma rather than walk in. I told them they could wave to Emma and that seemed to help. I explained to the teachers i would normally wait till they were out of that area. I was a teacher so understand. Maybe if there is a day they are their but not swimming before us I will see if I can get a ride early and go in and give those little darlings a mini demonstration of what a service dog does. I think it would be fun. I think they were at least four or five years old. I would keep it short. Emma loves kids and they noted how much her tail was wagging.
This is Emma's tail wags
back and forth a little - it's going ok back and forth fast = wow this is really good going round and round like a wirly bird - -this is fantastic the above and wiggling the butt - I can hardly contain myself.
The later is reserved mostly for me when I come home or feed her or give her attention.
I am amazed at how much I can tell about Emma from her body language especially her face and tail. She has a very expressive face.
Hope all of you had a great day.

Emma had a vet visit today. We have a very nice vet but of course Emma was not thrilled about it. She his under the bench where I sat waiting for the vet. This vet does not make her get up on the table. That was good because she was more cooperative on the floor. Emma despite her fears responded to sit, stay, and my lap (to look in her ears) and other cues excellently.
Her weight was down to 53 pounds. The vet was so pleased. She said she could use another pound or two but that this weight is okay. I am so glad. I was worried she might have gained over the winter but not so. Everything they checked was excellent. Emma is a healthy dog and I am so pleased. She needed some shots and the check up. We go again in May.
I thought they needed to do another stool sample. As luck would have it, she didn't do her daily duty in the morning. She always poops at that time. We went all day, walked her everythin and she didn't go. The appt was at 3:30. I bet you can guess what she did as soon as I was home. But it did turn out that she did not need that done again till spring anyway.
We also went to a Valentine lunch hosted by one of the drug companies. Then Dr. Schapiro and dDr. Calkwood talked and had a discussion on care partners (givers). Greg went also and it was most interesting.
No nap today so we are going to read and go to bed early. Tomorrow we will go swimming. Hope you have a good day. I am so pleased Emma's weight was good at the ver.
