Life with a service dog

 Emma helps at the Caucus

Today Emma was at home with Greg parts of the day. I had a counseling appointment and the women who drove did not have room for Emma due to grandchildren's carseats. I was home awhile and then went to the hospital to visit a friend who just had surgery. Several of us were going and I knew rooms were small so I left Emma home with Greg. She did fine but boy she was glad to see me again. Tomorrow she will be with me all day.

Emma has been so cooperative and helpful. I never cease to appreciate her skills and her personality. She is gentle, and affectionate. She is good company and makes my life easier.

Emma did great job at caucuses. I was so proud of her. It was just packed. Before the meetings began, I helped staff a table for our Congressional Candidate that I support.
It was interesting to talk to people and also to people watch. Our location for caucuses was Maple Grove High School and it was just packed. The turnout was fantastic.
I was so proud of my son Dan who was the convener. Things went well.

At times I had to walk through a dense crowd to get some materials. Emma was awesome even though she couldn't see anything but feet. She was awesome and a helper.

This will be short as I have to get some things done in the house. Cleaning lady comes tomorrow. I think doing all that political calling that I didn't keep up with some of the clutter. I will take care of that tonight.

Thanks for understanding that I can't write more. Just know Emma is the greatest service dog ever.

Yeah Snow. I found places where I could rub my face and body in the new fluffy snow. The base below is kind of hard and crunch. It is so much fun. I keep showing Mary I want to go outside. Who wants to stay in when there is snow to play in??

Mary got all her political calls done. Tomorrow is the caucus in MN. We will be going.
Not sure what else the day will bring. We can't wait for Greg to be better then he can drive us over to babysit Rosa. Mary thinks by next week it should work out fine.

I wrote before but forgot to mention the great snow we got.

Hello Again,

We got to go in the car. Mary got a ride to Byerlys and we went to the post office there and picked up a few things we needed. Mary said best of all she got me to walk around the store a few times (she used the scooter). We practiced "get the leash", side, heel, front, back, m&m's, let's go, stay and other cues (commands). It was fun for both of us. Mary said I did very good and that makes me happy.

We will be home the rest of the day. Mary has to make a few more political calls. Hope you are planning to go to your caucuses so that you can make your opinions known. We are democrats. It will be interesting to see who gets the nomination for President, Senate, and Congress in our area. Danny and Mary and I will go to the caucuses tomorrow night. Don't think Greg will be well enough to do that yet.

We don't know if we will babsit tomorrow or not. Greg can't drive Mary to Rosa's house so we will have to see what works best for Mike and Tia.

We need to take a nap.

 A Note from Emma

Hi To Everyone,

Today Mary slept late and felt better. Becky and Danny had a good surprise. They came to help Mary do some grocery shopping and to get some food for themselves. Mary said it was super crowded. She came home with lots of fresh things like oranges, apples, salad fixins, fresh veggies - we are all working on eating less and eating healthy

I stayed home with Greg. Mary explained there wasn't enough room for me and groceries in the car. Besides I helped Greg. I laid right by him. I picked up the remote when he dropped it and a few things like that. I also napped a bit.

When Mary got home she needed a nap. She uses an electric mattress pad and I love that. I really cuddle up close so I feel the warmth too. Then we watched the super bowl Mary and Greg ignored the urge to do the typical snacking and just had a healthy supper. I was proud of them. Looks like they really are serious.

We watched the super bowl, played indoors, and I went outside a few times also. Greg still has pain and can't straighten his leg much. We all will be glad when he feels better,

It was fun to see Becky and Danny but they didn't stay to play with me. They had groceries to get home. They did pet me though.

Snow is coming tomorrow they say. Mary and Greg both can't shovel or snow blow so Mary is worried. I wish i could help with that.

I like helping. Mary says I help keep their spirits up. We all sure hope things get better for Greg soon. I am a helper to Mary and she keeps thanking me. i guess she really needs me now or that is what she says to me.

We have to go to bed. It is suppose to be a messy snowy day tomorrow but you never know how much we will get here. New snow sure would be fun to play in. From the warm days the snow outside has a hard top layer that melted and then froze. I miss digging my head in the snow.

Hope you have a good Monday. I am taking good care of Mary.

Emma Helps Me Through A Bad Day

I had a kind of rough day with MS and a migraine.

I also had a wonderful dog. Waking me with kisses. I slept a lot during the day but got her outside (Greg can't do stairs yet) and really that is good. Then I remember to check my blood for my diabetes and eat if needed. She snuggled in to cheer me.
I slept till almost 3.

Yeah it is better tonight. Emma is just so wonderful to be with all day - good and bad days. I have to head to bed. My MS is such that usually I feel better in a day or to. Let's think positive that this is the case.
