Life with a service dog

a note from Emma on Saturday

Today we worked in the garden. Actually Mary and I mostly supervized. I had a nice place in the shade, their was breeze - oh what a life. Mary did help plant a pot of flowers. Greg did lots of weeding, some planting too. With all the weddings the flowers got put in late. The lady at the flower store said well many people who planted early lost their plants due to the storms with hail. Maybe it is smart we waited.

We rested and then went to an open house. They stayed from 5- 9:30. That is a long time for me to lay on a garage floor. Mary made sure I got out to walk around the yard a bit. Mary delegated the job since her walking ability was again more limited today.

Mary said she was really proud about my behavior today. Also the relatives know when i am working. So they do a good job of letting me do what I am suppose to do. When we left Mary let a few people pet me but that was only after she told me it was okay for a few minutes only.

Mary and I are ready for bed. She looks tired according to everyone who was there. I bett she will need a big nap tomorrow.

Hope you are having a good weekend.

Emma is Great at Getting Help

Most of the morning was quiet for us. I was sick in the night. Emma sure reacts to that. I finally fell asleep and doing better but Greg said Emma was up at least an hour later with him making sure I was okay. I think I possibly had a reaction to my medication or something. I got violently ill so quickly - then that made me have trouble with asthma and I had the chills so bad too. It was kind of crazy. I was very concerned but we managed it fine at home.

I was in bed when the reaction started and Emma responded quickly to my cue to go get Greg. She shot out of the bed like lightning. She is such a good dog.
The result though was that she and I slept a bit later and then rested this morning. I felt washed out.

This afternoon we did go to buy some flowers to plant. It rained hard so waited to plant them Sat. Anna was here for the afternoon which is a wonderful treat.

Friday is a wonderful day as we noramally see the granddaughters and Mike and Tia.
They are not here yet so I thought I would write now in case I am too tired later.
I am not a rich person financially - however I am rich in blessings. I wouldn't trade my family for anything.

Greg is so responsive and helpful when I am sick. He knew to help with the asthma inhaler and the nebulizer if needed. He kept a close watch on me in case we needed 911. He is a wonderful husband in so many ways. Not to mention an awesome father and grandfather.

Emma did get outside before it rained late today. She loves being outside. Today it was lovely and sunny. She was so enjoying being outside. I am so impressed though that when I say it is time to go back inside she obeys instantly. What a great dog she is.

She likes when Anna is here also. She will crawl up next to Anna on the love seat. Anna likes to take her outside too which is so nice.

Thanks to Judy, staff and all you foster families who take time to teach the service dogs to "go get help". It was really needed last night. Even on an okay day my ability to walk is worse first thing in the morning and at night. So it is so needed that Emma can go get help for me. Greg says it helps him worry less when he knows Emma will come get him.

Don't worry I feel okay today. Good and bad days or moments are part of my life.
I did have a special time last evening with my Aunt, Sister, and Cousin when we went out for dinner.

Oh I think I hear the car in the drive way - yeah for that.

Have a good weekend. We have an open house tomorrow for my nephew. It is suppose to be cooler and I sure hope that is true. I love these lovely days but I sure can't be out long when it is over 80.

Take care, Mary and Emma

Quick note - Books to read

I talk so much about book club. If you would like a list of the books we have read I can email one to you. Sometimes people ask me what we have read.

We are home and off to bed. It is shortly after 10pm here.

You would need to email me and I will send you the list. Just leaving me a comment doesn't work for me to send info like this.

 Hope Your Day is Happy

Hi to All,
I did not agree with the add that came up last night. Perhaps from the word hot. Last I checked it was triggered by my words I need "sleep" and that was not offensive to me. Remember I don't have control over the ads.

I already went to water exercise today. At about 3:30 we are headed to St. Paul to meet my sister, my Aunt and my Cousin from Reno. We will have an early dinner together and visit. I am looking forward to it. I might be pretty tired when I get home - so I thought I would blog now.

Emma is enjoying getting outdoors. You would not believe how much water she is drinking. The temperature and humidity are a little cooler today so it is warm but more comfortable. We are at Greg's work for awhile till it is time for us to go. There is an extra desk and computer some times. Emma really likes the desk it is on. There is a corner so she likes to go "under".

She will be with Greg tonight. We are all riding in my sisters car so there won't be room. Emma won't mind and neither will Greg.
I have to go now but wanted you to know all is well.

I will write more later if I can - Mary and Emma
