Life with a service dog

One to One Time with Emma

We watched Rosa for a few hours today. When we got home Emma climbed in my lap like a small dog. She wanted my total attention. Yes she got my full attention! We also took a nap snuggled together.

Rosa is mostly walking now. She is a sweet heart. Emma is comfortable there but I think still wants her alone time with me when we get home. Rosa fell asleep while I was holding her and Emma was asleep right by me too. There dog also was asleep. Nap time in the house I guess.

We babysit again tomorrow. Rosa is busy but lots of fun. I will nap when she does tomorrow if I can. I feel so fortunate to be her Grandma and to help in this way. I hadn't seen her for over a week due to my cold. She turns one at the end of the month.

Emma needs some play time. She just was outdoors. Then we are off to bed. Rosa has learned how to pat (pet) the dogs. She is so cute with Lily and Emma. She says dog in her own way and we know what she means. Emma is well loved.

Hope you had a good day.

 Sunday at the Movies

Emma and I went with friends to a movie. It still amazes me how she will settle in on her blanket and be so good during the entire film. People in the audience are always surprised when we enter or leave to see a dog present. She of course was awesome.

We did not do much else today. Greg is home tonight and we are both glad. I think Emma kept thinking he was coming home last night. She woke me several times in the night which she never does. I think when she heard cars on the street or our neighbors - she wanted me to know what was going on. I hope she/we sleep better tonight.

Monday night I think Anna is coming home for dinner and to visit. I am thrilled as I wish I saw her more often than I do. Emma will enjoy that too.

Here is hoping you have a really good week. Best wishes to the staff, volunteers, and graduates and dogs in team training. I believe the new graduates take the dogs home on Wed night. I hope they have a good week. I remember how exciting that time was for Emma and i.

Take care,
Emma and Mary

 Home On Saturday

Emma and I spent the day at home. Greg is working a retreat this weekend. It was sunny and we got outside to play several times. We napped, folded a bit of laundy, and I had time to read a book. Of course we also napped.

When my 4 children were little I couldn't imagine that I would ever have such a quiet day. Couldn't imaging having all those hours to fill. I confess I get lonesome for those fun years but yeah I have Emma for company and help. We did just fine today. I plan to go to bed early. I know I mention that often but sometimes things come up and I finish this chore or that or tv distracts me and I don't get to bed as early as planned.

When we are home I think I am not coming up with interesting stories about Emma. She was good today about retrieving things I needed, and things I used just for practice. She figured out the way the furniture is now she can stand on the seat cushion of the love seat and see out the window. She looked surprised when she figured that out. Tonight she is a bit jumpy and alert to noises outside. I have taken her out a few extra times to show her all is well. Funny girl.

tonight she will be able to sleep with me and not share space with Greg!! In the past she has liked that. She spreads her body out like she is a queen. She heard a noise of a neighbors car and ran to the door. I think she thought it was Greg.

I am sure glad to have Emma to cuddle up with tonight.
Have a good weekend.

 A Grey Friday

We got out of the house a little while today. Jan picked us up after school. We went to a place and had soup and bread. Of course a good long chat was included no charge. Then we visited a craft store. It was good to get out and I think Emma liked it to. But when we got home I took yet another nap. I don't have much planned for the weekend. I guess I need the rest.

Emma really ran about the yard today. i don't know what she was looking at as she rushed about. No rain so good weather to romp.

At the store she was very good at staying right with me. There were three children (siblings) who were so interested in her "working behavior". I had time so stopped and invited them to greet her. She behaved well. They were delighted. One little boy said they were going to get a dog "very soon". He told his mom "let's get one just like Emma". I hope they do get a dog they were so thrilled and well behaved.

My vision is so goofy that the flat computer screen seems curved to me. Walls don't look flat either. I bet you and the world are glad I am not driving right now. At times it is not as bad as other times. Really makes tv watching interesting. I have a new book to read but won't start tonight.

My husband made home made vegetable soup. Doesn't that sound yummy for a cool fall night. He worked late. This time of year he stays very busy. I am so glad to have Emma as my companion.

The screen looks so odd that I will stop typing for the night. I am in good spirits though still tired. I found out my dear granddaughter has mono. Sophia age 7. I will be glad when she finally feels better the poor little girl. No wonder she has not felt well...

Hope you are healthy. Enjoy the weekend.

 Home with Mary

Hi,
Mary stayed in bed most the day with her cold. She slept and also read. She did manage to take me out. It was a grey day and I snoozed a lot also. We were going to go take care of Rosa but instead Anna babysat. Rosa will be one year in a few weeks. Rosa likes me. I found a picture of her from a warm summer day. Her mommy will think it is silly she briefly did not have her shirt on and silly Mary took a picture. She wanted one of the ruffled pants that went with the Twins outfit. She meant to take show them off for a quick picture and of course Rosa scooted away. You can see Rosa is very comfortable with me and I am with her. Now she is walking some of the time. I also like Sophia cuddling up on the couch with her.

Mary is resting tonight also. Tomorrow after school we might get out of the house to see her friend Jan. It all depends on how Mary is feeling. The cough medicine worked so good we both got a lot more sleep.

Nothing else is new - Emma
